Woodes – The Thaw

Sometimes we come across artists who are simply cut from a different cloth. The artistry, the thought proccess, the delivery and the style usually separate artists like these from the rest. Woodes is one such artist. If you’re a fan of artists such as Lorde, Banks, Halsey etc then you will love this Australian singer/songwriter whose style and sound can hold its own. Released this month, ’The Thaw’ is a smooth and inspirational experimental pop song that will stay in your mind, prompting you to relax and enter an ethereal space which boundless and limitless. Definitely one to watch for the future, Woodes already belong amongst the starts. This is a bonafide release from the songstress, we hope to see her claim her spot amongst the big names over the course of this year and next. Fingers crossed!

Sleepy Eyes – Mangoes

Track 6 from the relatively recent album Circadia, this track captures the soul of the album. Like an unhinged Morcheeba, you’ll feel almost comforted, but at once forsaken. You feel the music will settle you but it doesn’t. This isn’t comforting. However, if it were released in the 60’s this would be music to listen to while you waited for the big acts of the day, a banned chemical in hand. You want to say the track is trance like but it’s not, it’s too challenging. Not random but artistically irritating. Oh, and its 1 minute 48 seconds long.

She Devils – Where There’s No One

Hold on? She Devils, Argentinian Punk band, going for 20 years? Well this is a departure from La Piel Dura territory. This isn’t noisy, this isn’t brash. This is trance like. It’s beautiful. The track is already gaining ground and you can hear or perhaps feel why. It ekes nostalgia. It crackles, no it literally crackles. It contains dubs like a 60’s vinyl. A  Beach Boys organ overlay that would have had Manson in his day desperate to befriend you. Essential.
